The debut of the 2011’s OperaFestival season is getting close. As required by tradition, performaces will take place in the two spectacular locations of Parco delle Colonne at Giardino di Boboli in Florence and at San Galgano Abbey in Chiusdino, near the city of Siena. From international theatre to opera and synphonic/choral music, the 2011 edition’s program is designed to couple quality with unique natural and scenographic enviroments. Perhaps the most famous title of all those belonging to the music theatre, La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi (July 14 and 21; August 3 in Florence; July 30, August 6 and 13 in San Galgano), will be presented in a brand-new operatic production with an excellent cast of belcanto specialists. Great music will continue with Carmina Burana by C. Orff (July 12, Florence; July 16 and August 5, San Galgano), offered in the emotional version for 2 pianos, percussions, Soli, Choir (100 units) and white voices choir, and with the equally celebrated Vivaldi’s Seasons (August 2, Florence; July 29 and August 12, San Galgano), featuring the solo violin of Lorenzo Fuoco. Of extreme interest also the universally acclaimed Le Cirque Invisible, a true masterpiece admired both by adults and children with Victoria Chaplin and Jean Baptiste Thierrèe (July 25, 26, 27 and 28 at Boboli Gardens), and the show Doppia Identità by Antonio Rezza and Flavia Mastrella, performed in Florence for the first time. OperaFestival opens to the elegant international music with the concert of the pianist Ludovico Einaudi The solo concert (July 24, Abbey of San Galgano). This season also pays tribute to classical ballet, with the beloved Swan Lake (July 23, San Galgano) and Don Quixote (July 19, Florence).
